Post-Stroke Recovery Research
Research has been undertaken at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center to “develop a method to predict post-stroke recovery of language by measuring the initial severity of impairment.” Such data is incredibly important for stroke victims and their carers, especially as more stroke victims have successful outcomes in the emergency room, post-stroke.
Indeed, results from this study show that by knowing “the extent of the initial impairment following stroke, then we can predict with remarkable accuracy how patients will function 90 days later.” So it is extremely important that those working in the ER get an accurate assessment of stroke victims.
